Every Forrest & Love copper product is handcrafted in India by skilled artisans using traditional copperworking techniques. Unlike mass-produced items, each piece carries subtle characteristics of the hands and tools that shaped it. Small variations in shape, surface, hammering, engraving or finish may therefore occur from one piece to another. These are natural characteristics of handcrafted production and make each piece unique. Minor cosmetic variations that do not affect the function, safety or intended use of the product are considered part of its handcrafted character rather than a product defect.
Natural Changes in Copper
Copper is a naturally reactive metal and its appearance evolves over time. The untreated copper surface may darken, develop water marks or show areas of oxidation through contact with water, air and regular use. This natural patina is characteristic of copper and does not necessarily indicate a product defect. If you prefer a brighter copper finish, most oxidation and water marks can be removed using our recommended cleaning method. Copper Water Bottles – Benefits, Dangers, Dos and Don'ts
Are you using your copper bottle correctly?
Our copper bottles are designed exclusively for still drinking water. For normal use, we recommend storing water for approximately 8–12 hours, for example overnight.
Our copper bottles have also been examined under defined laboratory conditions, including measurements of pH, alkalinity and copper content after different storage periods.

Clean your copperware within minutes.
We recommend rinsing your new copper bottle or tumbler thoroughly before first use.
The exterior of our copperware has a protective lacquer, while the interior is intentionally left untreated. As a result, the copper surface naturally changes over time and may develop darkening, water marks or oxidation. If you prefer a brighter copper finish, simply follow our recommended cleaning instructions. Our video shows you how to clean and care for your copperware in just a few simple steps.
Craftsmanship & Cleaning
Below you will find photo examples showing natural variations that can occur during handcrafted production, as well as cases where simple cleaning may restore the appearance of the copper. Minor variations in hammering, engraving, shape or surface finish are characteristic of handcrafted production. Natural oxidation, water marks and colour changes on untreated copper are also normal and can usually be addressed with the appropriate cleaning method.

Product Defects
Handcrafted variations and natural changes in copper should be distinguished from genuine product defects.
Examples of defects may include holes, cracks, defective or missing silicone sealing rings, significant dents or deformation affecting the product's function, or a closure that does not work correctly. The reference photos below will help you distinguish between normal handcrafted characteristics and possible manufacturing defects.
If you believe your product is defective, please contact us at service@forrestandlove.com with your order number and clear photos or a short video showing the issue. We will review it and advise you on the appropriate next steps.
Damage caused after delivery through improper use, accidents or failure to follow the product care instructions is not considered a manufacturing defect. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected. Please note that returns and complaints relating to products purchased through one of our retail partners or partner online shops should generally be directed to the retailer from whom the product was purchased.
