Copper Infused Water = Tamra Jal
Copper-infused water, also known as Tamra Jal, is an ancient Ayurvedic preparation made by storing drinking water in a copper vessel.
Tamra = Copper (Sanskrit)
Jal = Water (Sanskrit)
According to Ayurveda, drinking Tamra Jal supports overall wellbeing, promotes vitality, and helps balance the three doshas in the body.
Prepare Tamra Jal at home:
1. Clean Your Copper Vessel
Before use, rinse your copper vessel with lukewarm water. Avoid using soap, as it may leave residue.
2. Add Fresh Water
Fill the vessel with normal drinking water. Tap water is fine if it’s safe to drink in your area.
3. Let It Rest
Allow the water to sit in the copper vessel for at least 4–6 hours at room temperature. For maximum benefits, Ayurveda recommends leaving it overnight and drinking it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
4. Enjoy Your Tamra Jal
Sip and enjoy the silky-smooth taste of your copper-enriched water. You can also use it for your morning tea, coffee, or detox smoothie. Add a few lemon slices for extra vitamin C, or infuse with mint leaves or ginger for a refreshing twist.
Tips & Precautions
- Avoid pouring boiling or hot water directly into copper vessels.
- Store only still (non-carbonated) water in copper vessels.
- If you ever feel discomfort, reduce the amount you drink.
- A metallic taste is a sign it’s time to clean your vessel.
Make Tamra Jal part of your daily wellness ritual and experience the timeless benefits of Ayurveda in the simplest way.
