FAQ's

Since ancient times, Ayurveda has advocated the benefits of drinking copper water. As per Ayurveda, when you store water in a copper vessel for a span of 4-12 hours (best stored overnight), the pH level of the water increases and it becomes naturally alkaline. This also leaves it tasting silky smooth. The charged copper water helps bring balance to the Tridosha (Vata, Kapha and Pitta) of the body. In Ayurveda, this transformed, therapeutic water taken from copper vessels is called ‘Tamra Jal’. Our copper jugs are made of pure copper, hence providing all the vitalizing benefits of Tamra Jal.

Copper also acts anti-bacterial and is known to have self-sterilizing properties. Modern science calls this the oligodynamic effect – the inherently toxic effect of certain metals on pathogens.

Yes! Since Forrest & Love products are handmade, the production impact in terms of CO2 output on the environment is far lower than that of competing products made from other materials on mass scale production. Our jugs, bottles and glasses are still produced using traditional copper molding techniques practiced by our forefathers since generations. Copper is 100% recyclable material. All our waste scraps and unused sheets are sent back for recycling. We believe that every human being can change the world. Together with you, we want to create a community that stands for more sustainability and environmental awareness.

Storing water in copper vessels for 4-12 hours makes water naturally alkaline. You can of course drink water immediately after filling it into the copper jug. However, to get the full benefits of copper, we suggest you fill up your jug the night before and start by drinking a glass in the morning to cleanse and detoxify your body. Enjoy the rest of the water throughout the day. Alternatively, you can also enjoy copper water benefits by storing water for at least 4 hours, but no longer than 16 hours.

We recommend that you only store still water in your bottle. Copper can react with acidic liquids (anything with a pH of less than 7) or milk-based fluids. If you want to flavour your water, you can gladly add this to your glass once the copper water has been poured from the jug.
We do not recommend pouring hot water or other liquids in your copper jug, as copper may react to the heat and the acidity of those ingredients.

Pure copper naturally develops patina over time. This does not hamper the anti-bacterial properties of copper even if it turns darker over time. In case you notice a green residue, kindly clean it before further use. Please refer to the cleaning tips in the subsequent section.

Put a table spoon of citric acid powder or descaler powder in the copper jug. Pour hot water and let it rest for few minutes. Please beware that the jug can get very hot, since copper is a conducting metal. Shake well and rinse off. Dry well before next use. Your copper jug will shine as new from within. Do not clean or scrub the jug from outside; the lacquer layer could rub off. Hand wash recommended, not dish washer friendly
