Ayurveda Benefits:
Since ancient times, Ayurveda has advocated the benefits of drinking copper water. According to Ayurveda, when water is kept in a copper vessel for a period of 6-8 hours (preferably stored overnight), the water naturally becomes alkaline. This happens because the copper vessel positively charges and energizes the water, making the water “alive” again. It also makes it taste silky smooth. The charged copper water helps to balance the body’s tridosha (vata, kapha and pitta). In Ayurveda, this transformed, therapeutic water taken from a copper vessel is called “Tamra Jal”.
Scientific Benefits:
Our studies show that our copper bottles can increase the pH and alkalinity of water and also have antibacterial properties. Our laboratory tests were conducted on both filtered and unfiltered water that contained harmful bacteria such as E.Coli. Copper has self-sterilizing properties. In modern science, this process is called the “Oligodynamic Effect” and has the ability to destroy a wide range of harmful microbes, mold, fungi, etc. due to the toxic effect on living cells.
Important Tips
Storage Tips: To enjoy maximum benefits, leave the water in your bottle or carafe overnight and drink it the next day, either in the morning on an empty stomach or throughout the day! Alternatively, you can store water in your copper vessel for between 4 hours – 12 hours.
Cleaning tips: Add a tablespoon of citric acid powder or descaling powder to the copper bottle/carafe. Pour hot water and let it sit for a few minutes. Shake well and rinse. Your copper vessel will shine like new from the inside out. Do not clean or scrub the bottle from the outside. The lacquer layer may rub off. Hand wash recommended, not dishwasher safe.
